Kansas City, MO
On the way to St. Louis for Spring Break 2012, I decided that I would stop in and visit Kansas City for a few hours. I wasn't expecting much, but what I found, blew my expectations away. The city was alive with people (granted it was St. Patty's day and it was a Saturday Night). There were people heading to an opera/Broadway show, fans going to see Luke Bryan and Jason Aldean live at the Sprint Center, college sports enthusiast attending the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament, and St. Patty's day party goers heading to the Power & Light District! The Power & Light District is a special spot downtown where night owls can enjoy outdoor venues, beer vendors, and a one-stop shop for all entertainment (most of which is under a large canopy). While I was only able to spend about three hours in KC, the city was able to make me a believer. Hopefully, next time I come around I can stay just a tad bit longer.
As my fiance and I traveled from Colorado to Indiana, I finally got my second chance to see KC up close. While she got to see the Power & Light District for the first time, I was thrilled to experience their Union Station and Joe's BBQ. Union Station was beautifully decorated for Christmas and had an epic model train station setup. Joe's BBQ was hands down the best BBQ I've ever had. Located inside a gas station, Joe's was unexpectedly delicious and satisfying.
