Houston, TX
My first trip to Houston since I was a toddler coincided with a weekend chalked full of rain. In fact, I was informed by the locals that Texas City had not flooded to this extent since sometime in the 1990s! Lucky me! Fortunately, I did make another trip out to Houston a week before the super bowl, and I'm sure there will be more visits to come now that my friend Josh has found himself a career in this booming city of the south. During my next trip, I'm looking forward to more exploration of Houston's downtown. The super bowl's pending arrival brought the NFL experience to center stage of downtown so while I was able to participate in the extravaganza of the NFL, I was limited in my exploration elsewhere. One highlight of the trip was discovering the greatest Beer Garden I've ever seen or heard of. The backyard (the garden) was more like someone's ultimate chill zone with a picnic tables, umbrellas, lawn games, and at least 30 hammocks in what the establishment referred to as a hammock grove. I will definitely be checking this place out again for the beers and view.
